Whidbey General Hospital LPN
New LPN Contract Boosts Wages and Benefits
02/04/10
Last week, union LPNs at Whidbey General Hospital voted by an overwhelming margin to approve a new contract that boosts wages, eases eligibility rules for health care benefits, and makes other improvements.
Highlights of Our New Contract
Our new contract makes significant improvements to wages, benefits, and working conditions for LPNs at Whidbey. Highlights include:
- Wage increases in each year of the new 3-year agreement.
- Add Christmas Eve as a new holiday for pay purposes.
- Minimum call-back pay increased to three hours.
- Easier eligibility for health care benefits: Beginning January 2012, employees with a 0.6 FTE will be eligible for employee-only health care benefits.
- Additional PTO day for members with 27 or more years of service.
- Voluntary political contributions: Adds the ability for union members to donate to the union political action fund through payroll deduction if they choose to do so. These funds are used to help support working family issues that benefit all our members.
What Happens Next?
In the weeks ahead, we will be reviewing the final contract document for signature, and soon afterwards, we should have copies of the agreement available for distribution. We’ll let you know when the new contract is available. In the meantime, the new agreement is already in effect.
You can be proud of this new agreement. Despite the tough economy, we made substantial improvements to our contract, and we look forward to continuing to work together with the Hospital to advance wages and working conditions at Whidbey General Hospital for union LPNs and other employees into the future.
